YAKERS Guide to Microwaving Your Chews

Did you know, you can create your dog a crunchy snack by using a small end piece of a YAKERS chew? For an added twist, simply pop the small end pieces in the microwave for 30 – 60 seconds until they puff up. After allowing them to cool, hand them back to your dog to savour and finish the whole treat.

Our Cooking Process

  • It all starts with the milk.

    The milk gets delivered from local farms, local dairies and individual herders in the Himalayas.

  • We turn the milk into cheese.

    Once the cream is removed to make sure each chew is low in fat, we add a small amount of lime juice and salt to the recipe to help solidify the cheese.

  • The cheese is then compressed...

    Most of the moisture is removed from the hardened solids using a muslin cloth, this squeezes out any excess to get the cheese ready to rest.

  • ... and we leave it to rest!

    Good cheese takes time. Once the blocks are formed, they are left to rest for a few days, making them the perfect texture to be cut.

  • Every block is smoked and sliced.

    Once each chew has been cut to size, they are hung on a wire grid in specialist smoking sheds and smoke-dried for 28 days.
